Like 45 billion other people, I saw the Mighty Putty commercial on TV and thought it sounded great. My husband sighed and said, that's been around forever, and a lot cheaper, too.So I looked around and lo and behold, J-B Weld IS "Mighty Putty," minus the horrific shipping and 'processing' fee. I bought this at a local hardware store to test it out (around $3 if you can get find it; my husband suggest an auto parts store.) It does work like the commercial says. I wanted to put up a towel rack in a guest bathroom without drilling through the tile. Well, it worked. Set up in a few minutes. Next day you could hang Billy Mays from it, and I don't think it'd break. Let me start by saying...I LOVE THIS STUFF!! I mean it! It is my favorite purchase in a long, long, long time!What it is: it is putty stuff shaped like a tootsie roll...or a cow tale (if you are familar with that candy!) In the center of the cylindrical putty, is another darker colored compound. You cut off a slice the size you want and knead it in your fingers until it is all the same color. Then you use it to fill holes, fix cracks, stick stuff together (yes it is adhesive, too) etc. I had it one day and I fixed an old drilled hole in ceramic tile, a hole in a concrete wall, a piece of molding on my garage door, a wheel on a footstool, and a chip on a lamp. I am glad I bought 3 tubes! It is like sticky poster putty, but it dries hard (doesn't shrink) and permanently. Ready for sanding or painting.
